The neem tree is also known as the Nimba tree, Indian lilac, and miracle tree. It is a member of the mahogany family, also known as Meliaceae. The neem tree’s white and fragrant flowers grow in drooping flower clusters that can be up to 25 centimeters long. Each flower is 5–6 millimeters long and 8–11 millimeters wide. The neem tree’s decomposing plant matter can affect aquatic life and reduce native insect populations. When growing in dense stands, it can also reduce the diversity and abundance of native species.

The neem tree (Azadirachta indica) is a fast-growing, broad-leaved evergreen that can grow up to 30 meters tall and 2.5 meters in girthIt has a straight trunk with a diameter of around 4–5 feet. The leaves are compound, with 5–15 leaflets, and are typically evergreen but may fall off during periods of extreme drought. The tree’s fruits are green drupes that turn golden yellow when ripe in June–August.
